Biases In Decision-Making: A Guide For CFOs
Making decisions is tricky - people (and businesses) get stuck in patterns that distort judgment. These mental shortcuts can slow down good decisions, warp them, or completely block them. Smart leadership means actively working to break these patterns to make better calls that grow real value.
Here's some common mental habits every organization should know about, and practical ways to fix them, according to McKinsey.
How One Company Used AI to Broaden Its Customer Base
SAP, a software company, used artificial intelligence (AI) tools to start selling to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), a market that was previously too expensive for its traditional sales methods. By analyzing the customer journey and using over 40 AI tools, SAP changed how it sells, cutting the sales process from 12–18 months down to just 3–6 months. This helped them connect with over 22,000 new customers in 2024.
The case shows how scaling AI thoughtfully can bring big revenue gains for large companies.

TRIVIA ANSWER
The answer is B) Switzerland
One of the most famous pranks in history occurred in 1957 when the BBC aired a segment claiming that spaghetti grew on trees in Switzerland. Viewers were so convinced that they called the station asking how they could grow their spaghetti trees.
April Fools' Day is celebrated on April 1st worldwide. Its origins are unclear but may date back to France in 1582 when the calendar switched to January 1 for New Year celebrations, leaving those who continued celebrating in April labeled as "April fools".
That’s a wrap!
